Secondary Classrooms

Edison Secondary School consists of a melting pot of 24 teachers from all over the world and over 240 students  ranging from Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) up until Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11).

As a school, we encourage all of our students to become involved with school activities, make a commitment to academic excellence and be a contributor to the special spirit that exists in our school.

We strive to prepare all students to become lifelong learners so that they can function in a society, and become responsible citizens of the world where they will be able to communicate effectively, not only using the technology provided to them, but also sustain speaking and other  and collaborative skills that will allow them the confidence to contribute to the global society.

In our Keystage 3 classrooms, our students work towards achieving the learning goals set out by the programmes of study of National Curriculum for England for English, Maths, Science, Geography, ICT, PE, PSHE and Art. In addition, students take Arabic, Islamic and Qatar History according to the curriculum stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar.

For students needing academic support, the school has implemented classes that run on a differentiated curriculum, so that we can ensure all students’ needs are catered for sufficiently and all can make the necessary progress in their respective year group according to their level.

Upon reaching the Keystage 4, students are prepared for the IGCSE examinations over two years, and will sit these externally set and marked exams at the end of Year 11. Currently, the school offers English (second language), Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Arabic (first language), ICT, Business Studies and Travel and Tourism.

The school is currently working on plans to offer a Foundation Stream and an Accelerated Stream from the Academic Year 2019/20 onwards; similarly to the support classes in Keystage 3, the school, here, will aim at catering to various academic needs and individual requirements.

While the school does not offer AS Level preparation during the current academic year, we will be preparing our students to sit AS Level examinations in our new Year 12 classrooms from the Academic Year 2019/20 onwards.

Edison International Academy, Muaither, is accredited by the two main British examination boards, Edexcel and Cambridge.
